Emergency First Aid (Child Care) CPR/AED Level B

Overview

The Emergency Child Care First Aid with CPR/AED Level B course is intended for individuals responsible for care and supervision of infants and children. This training aligns with the licensing and workplace requirements for childcare and early learning environments across British Columbia. The course highlights safety and crisis preparedness for child-specific emergencies.

Participants are trained to recognize and respond to common childhood emergencies including choking, bleeding, breathing difficulties, child CPR, and other medical conditions. Through hands-on practice and real-world scenarios, caregivers gain confidence and preparedness to act promptly and effectively in high-pressure situations.

Course content: 

  • Emergency scene assessment
  • Overview of the EMS system, including how and when to call for help
  • Primary Survey (ABCs – Airway, Breathing, Circulation)
  • CPR and AED use
  • Airway and breathing emergencies, including choking
  • Child-focused medical emergencies (e.g., allergic reactions, seizures)
  • Burns and heat- and cold-related emergencies
  • Bone, muscle, and joint injuries
  • External and internal bleeding
  • Head, neck, and spinal injuries

Change, Refund, and Return Policy: 

  • Learners may request one-time course rescheduling or transfer to another available session. The request must be made at least three (3) business days prior to course start date. Transfers are subject to seat availability.
  • Full refunds will be provided if the request to cancel has been received more than a week (7 days) before the course start date or Western Workforce Skills Training Centre cancels or reschedules the course.
  • No refund will be issued if a registered participant is late, absent, or cancelled within the day.
