Purpose
- This sets out the expectations for students at WWSTC. It supports a safe, respectful, inclusive and professional learning environment in compliance with:
- WorkSafeBC occupational health and safety requirements
- BC Human Rights Code
- Expectations of public and private funders, employers, and partners.
Scope of Conduct
- This code applies to students/learners participating in:
- In-person, online, and hybrid training
- Assessment, exams, and certification
- Workshops, work-based training, and classroom activities
- Digital platforms and communication
Learners Responsibilities
- Each student/learner must comply with the following:
- Arrive on time
- Cellphones on silent mode, no need of laptops
- Treat others with respect, dignity, and fairness
- Follow WWSTC policies, instructions, and applicable laws and regulations
- Attend sessions on time and participate appropriately
- Use facilities, equipment, and materials safely and responsibly
- Maintain professional behavior in classroom and online environments
- Protect confidential and personal information
Health, Safety and WorkSafeBC compliance
- Each student/learner is required to do the following:
- Follow all health and safety rules, including emergency procedures
- Report hazards, unsafe conditions, incidents, and emergencies immediately
- Use required protective clothing, if applicable
- Refrain from attending training while under the influence of drugs or alcohol
- Safety is a shared responsibility. Unsafe behavior will not be tolerated.
Human Rights, Harassment, and Discrimination
- WWSTC is committed to a learning environment free from harassment and discrimination. Learners must NOT engage in the following:
- Any form of harassment (Verbal, Emotional, Physical, Psychological, or sexual)
- Bullying, intimidation, and threatening behavior
- Discrimination is based on protected grounds under the BC human rights code.
- All students/learners have the right to be treated with respect and dignity.
Integrity
- Each student/learner must:
- Complete assessments honestly and independently unless instructed otherwise
- Not engage in cheating, plagiarism, or misrepresentation
- Follow all of examination and assessment rules
- Any breach of these policies will result in removal from the assessment or program
Digital and Online Conduct
- When using WWSTC systems, or virtual classrooms, students/learners must do the following:
- Communicate professionally and respectfully
- Not sharing unauthorized, offensive, and inappropriate content
- Always respect privacy and confidentiality
Non-Compliance and Consequences
- Failure to follow these codes may result in the following:
- Verbal or written warning
- Removal from class, assessment, or training activities
- Termination of booking application
- Reporting to regulatory authorities, if required
Participation in WWSTC training programs confirms that the student/learner has read, understood, and agreed to follow this Code of Conduct.
